Recording for UNICEF during the pandemic -“My Hero is You”
I love to record voice-overs for children.
I don’t have kids myself but I love communicating and connecting with them. I think that is because I still feel like a grown up child.
I regularly record content for Children’s Network Channel in British TV, and in my experience, recording for kids is a completely different to any other type of recording.
During the pandemic, UNICEF hired me to record a lovely audiovisual project called “My hero is you”.
It was an audio book recorded in several languages aimed to explain what Covid -19 was and how to stay safe during the worst part of the pandemic.
Children around the world have experienced real anxiety during the pandemic because their little heads couldn’t figure out what was going on and why people were dying.
The layout of the story is beautiful.
Look it up on Google!
It takes the kids on an imaginary trip around the globe to understand how other children were coping with the pandemic and how they opened up about their fears.
When there is a project to work on aimed for children, I am usually chosen because my voice sounds tender, close and reassuring, like that of a protective mother.
It was such an honor to be chosen by UNICEF to play the comforting “mothering” voice for all of them, when they needed it the most .
Sometimes this job makes you feel VERY special.
